In the face of the global economic downturn, customers are increasingly realizing that small satellites are the best solution for stretching limited resources while accomplishing mission objectives.HISS has expertise in developing and deploying small satellites (less than 500 kg) quickly and efficiently. We have developed a modular spacecraft architecture applicable for nano- and microsatellites serving the scientific, commercial and military missions. HISS satellites are compatible with a wide variety of secondary and multiple manifest launch opportunities.
The small satellite niche has traditionally been under-served in the satellite development community. We, however, have long viewed these efficient and economic systems are the future of satellite technology. Because HISS has been at the forefront of the industry, we have already proven our ability to define and adapt to the unique set of challenges that small satellites present (such as propulsion, control and communications).

Education & Community Development
HISS actively participates in training the next generation of aerospace engineers. We provide opportunities for college students and job seekers through internships, mentoring programs, and workforce development. In collaboration with NASA, non-profits, local governments, community colleges, and universities, HISS provides STEM undergraduate courses and research opportunities, as well as re-training programs for entry into aerospace technician careers. Many of our programs are targeted at increasing minority and veteran participation in aerospace, defense, and homeland security disciplines.
HISS also sponsors outreach for middle and high schools students by means of camps and mentoring. Through projects such 1st Robotics and "Reach for the Stars" space camp we provide educational opportunities for students of all backgrounds - including those who are gifted, at-risk, and physically challenged.
